Anybody use a Modeling pedal instead of an amp live?

I play in a three piece band and since developing major back problems I have since Stopped lugging around my Ashdown rig. now I use a modeling pedal and have a world of different tones at my disposal. I was curious as to if any else does this and has any cons, other than it doesnt look as cool as a monster 8-10 cab standing on stage. I also have a smaller Mag 350t 410 cab but its not a whole lot lighter and can see using a pedal fron here on out. I know tone is largely a personal preference but the models available to me sound nearly identical to their miked real deal counterparts thru the mains, any difference is to the positive.

Lots of people do just DI or software or whatever.

The main thing is if you like how it sounds, go with it.

I can remember when the Line6 pods first came out, my guitar player and I used them exclusively for a few months. We had a good monitor system and I had no problem with it.

Have you checked out some of the light weight heads/cabs that many TB'rs are using? Here's a link that might help you out: Micro-rigs of doom

Hope your back is feeling better! I was in physical therapy, acupuncture/massage, chiropractic treatment for 17 months to fix my lower back a few years ago. Good luck.

Btw, which modeling pedal are you using? Did you try others before settling on that one?
