anyone already ordered a tonebender through musictoyz?

Sign in to disble this ad
hi all,

after having fiddled with a tonebender in the studio this summer, I conluded that it was THE fuzz I needed. afaik, they're only sold in the UK by the manufacturer itself and in the US by musictoyz. and apparently, it's cheaper to have it send twice over the atlantic than ordering directly from the UK for me who lives in Switzerland (gotta love the world economy <3)

anyway, as some kind of a followup to this thread, I wanted to know if some people amongst you us guys already ordered a reissue tonebender from musictoyz, and if you did or did not experience any troubles.

well as much as I'd love to, and I most probably will some day, I can't allow myself to take any free time to play with bilding a clone atm, and "betting" that it'll get the same sound that I heard and know I want is not much an option in case of failure

The BYOC Tone Bender is not the same as the Colorsound reissue Tone Bender.

I don't want to derail this thread but I've been wondering why people aren't trying some of the much cheaper tonebender clones since it became popular with bass players. Some examples that come to mind would be:

Prescription Yard Box
Fulltone Soulblender
Throbak Stone Bender
Sweet Sound Pro-Bender

I know you want exactly the sound you got with the colorsound pedal but if you see one of these it might be worth checking out. The ones I listed are all under $200 and I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of. Again, sorry I'm not really answering your question...

well in the end the ecologist in me decided that it was a bit ridiculous to have the pedal cross the atlantic twice before receiving it so I odered it directly from macaris

I've looked into a few of those myself, but they are not the same design. The original and reissue are so loved because of their internal architecture and the parts used...not all tone benders are created equal.
