Anyone buy anything from Barge Concepts recently?

Sign in to disble this ad
They say on the site that the current build time is 10-20 days, which it has been, but they haven't responded to my email, and I don't know if they have an account on here or I'd try a PM.

Anyone know whats up, or having the same problem?

I ordered a GLZ-1 from them recently. It took between 2-3 weeks. Seemed reasonable.

Sent an email inquiry a month or two ago and heard nothing. It could have been that my question was too off the wall.

If you can, call them. As far as I know it's just Geoff and one other guy making all the pedals, so they're up to their neck doing that.

I met Geoff once when he dropped two pedals off to me at a hotel in NYC when I was in town. Didn't want to leave them at the desk in case I didn't get them. I believe he's a genuine guy - he took the time to do this in the middle of some tough family times, so I wouldn't think he's not answering your email out of any dodgy reason.

I dunno, I have asked Geoff some pretty far-out questions and have always gotten a rapid response.

Maybe your email got caught in a spam filter.
Happended to my at Barge and at Sadowsky, depending on which email account I use.

Was asking about two loops where I could put a SansAmp VT in one and my Shuttle preamp in the other then feed the output into the Shuttle's FX Return. I think what I was asking for is a Boss LS-2.

2 days. I asked a pretty weird question about something to do with one of the boosts a while back, and it was within 24 hours for each response.....

I use gmail, and I just don't see me replying with the email I got when I placed the order getting marked as spam. I check my junk folder all the time, and there has been nothing so far.

Just the usual "get a bigger member" stuff

Could be that they are overly busy at Barge. When I ordered my Grinder it took about two months instead of 8-10 days. When I got a VFB custom job from them it took even longer. Keep in mind that the quoted time on the website is only a projection and may or may not reflect recent orders or extra time needed to complete a custom order. That being said, give Geoff some time to reply to you. If a whole week goes by, then I'd start getting worried and maybe send another email.

I emailed them last Sunday at 5PM and got an answer in less than one hour. I answered back right away and got my 2nd answer 24 hours later. Pretty good in my book!

I'd definitely email Geoff and the crew about that! Also, let all of us know how it goes.

Sweet deal! I'm hoping that they are busy. I don't want them to go under. The pedals they are making are sweet. (I promise, I don't work for, nor am I paid by Barge Concepts)

Did you ever get the VBjr?

I ordered an RC-3 which I paid for with a MO. Geoff said they rcvd my payment and were starting the build on 5/28. The anticpated wait then was 15-20 business days. Then it was moved up to 15-25 on their site.
I wrote him at one point about 3 weeks ago asking if I could expect it in time for an upcoming gig. He wrote back politely answering "no" but didn't offer up any projections as to when I might expect it.

I wrote him again and Monday hoping for an update/apologizing for being a pest but I haven't rcvd a reply. The last update on their site was June 23rd. Tomorrow will be the 35 business day mark. This will be my fourth pedal from them. It's never taken anywhere near this long.

That is ridiculous. You should take your business elsewhere. Maybe order an analog.man King of Tone, Dr. Scientist Reverberator or a Toneczar Halophaze instead. . .

I think the reality is simply that Barge is a small operation that doesn't have the capability to deal with a big jump in orders. And I'm sure as they've expanded their product line their orders have ratcheted up. But with such small margins for pedal builders, they can't afford to hire extra people on full time for fear the order volume won't stay constant.

Long story short, I think this is just a busy cycle for them and it's unfortunate but you'll either just have to wait or ask for your money back. If it's any consolation, my OLC Chunky Cheese took over four months to be built delivered.

Yes. Took about 5-7 weeks IIRC (it shipped a week later than what he said in the e-mail), and is an amazing pedal.

Definitely got the impression for the e-mail I got (within a week IIRC) that they must be smokin' busy.

So is Mario from Robot Factory too. I think im gonna have to wait insanely for a MeatWad, but at this point I don't mind.

One thing I've learned, even ordering stuff from a local store: DON'T expect to get it in time for X, or by X day of Y month.

It just won't happen.
