Anyone With A Crybaby- Need A Measurement Favor

Sign in to disble this ad
I know the bases of these are about 4 inches wide at their widest point. Could someone measure how wide the base is at 6.5" up (from the heel towards the toe)? I know it will only be a little smaller, but even a 1/4" will make a difference for me. Thanks

3 1/2 internally

Yes, I meant external (bottom of the base). Thanks a lot!

Out of curiosity, what do you need the measurements for?

Well, my pedalboard at it's very widest with the lid still being able to fit on is 25.5". I'm getting in my new MIDI controller soon that is 21.65" long and 6.5" tall, so I can fit an expression pedal that's 3.85" wide. I was looking at a Mission Engineering exp. pedal which is basically a Crybaby housing, and if I angle it so that one end stays flat against the edge of my pedalboard, it looks like it will fit, and the portion of the exp. pedal that is wider than 3.85" will just be above the MIDI controller where the width isn't an issue.

Up until last week, I had written down the wrong width for the MIDI controller, so I thought I'd have to find an exp. pedal that was 3" wide or under (of which there are none), so I'm happy that this is now an option. The Mission Engineering pedal I'm looking at was actually designed to work specifically with the MIDI controller I'm getting.

Cool! Glad that it's going to work out for you! I'm also amazed that you take the time to measure out your pedalboards. I really should be doing that. What usually happens is that I end up playing tetris with my board until I get a configuration that fits what I need/want it to and then cut the cables to fit everything into the signal chain that I want it to be. This usually means a HUGE tangle of wires under the board.

Thanks. The big downside of having big MIDI controllers is that it really limits the Tetris-izing you can do as they take up so much room. Without measuring first, I'd have no way of knowing if something would fit at all, and there's no wiggle room for certain things.
