Anyone else using a "Boutique" Overdrive/Fuzz/Distortion.

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm gonna be receiving a Smart People Factory Greenline Overdrive next week.

It's another "improvement" to the TS808 (Tube Screamer) circuit. I've only heard it on guitar but I have a feeling it'll be pretty gnarly on bass since it's a Tubescreamer "copy".

So, this thread was jsut basically made for me to show off what I'm getting ans ask who else is using a "boutique-ish" overdrive/distortion/fuzz. And what you think of it.

Looks like a cool pedal.
Is "mud" to put more lows it? And is the "vintage/modern" switch to control the mid hump?

I used to use a Hotcake, does that count as boutique? They are very common here!

I've owned a Hotcake and Woolly Mammoth, I have a Tonefactor Huckleberry and Chunk Brown Dog and I've tried the Colorsound Tonebender. So yeah, I guess I have had tried quite a few boutique Fuzzes and Overdrives.

Not really boutique, but I have a Maxon made TS9DX pedal, pre-2002.

The mod switch changes the frequency response and indeed boosts low end. The vintage/modern switch just makes it more like an original TS and a more modern overdrive.

Check out their website. Not a lot of stuff, but a cool lil company...

I don't really know what classifies a pedal as boutique or not... but I think anything not ultra mass produced can be considered it. Price doesn't really mean so much to me here.

I have a Dave Hall Amps VT1 Std Bass, A Fulltone BD and a Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie. I might off the Fulltone for a simple boost pedal (because that is pretty much all it is doing these days)

I use an Owen bass Gremlin overdrive
Sub Decay Stupid box, and a Devi Ever Karaoke Party.
This set up gives me multiple flavors or textures of overdriven sounds.
