anyone ever have this problem?

i recntly purchased a used dunlop crybaby and i was pretty happy with it
i did notice something though
everytime i would rock it up and down, the sound of it going up and down would come through my amp and there would be a static kind of sound.
does anyone know what the problem is or has anyone else had this problem?

It's a dirty pot. Get some spray contact cleaner (like Caig's Pro Gold) from Radio Shack and spray a bit of it into the actual pot housing, then work the pedal up and down a bunch of times. The static should go away.

I've never understood though why people make posts with titles that don't include the subject of the post.

i ended up doing that but it didnt do much
i think im just gonna have to order a new pot

Christ: are you sure you got the contact cleaner into the pot body and onto the resistive strip/wiper? I've had some pots that didn't allow much access, and took more than one heavy application of spray to fix the scratchiness.

I'm pretty sure what you're hearing is your wah pedal "wah-ing" the noise coming from your guitar. There is pretty much always some bit of noise in your signal chain, especially if you're using single coil pickups or if you have any pedals in front of your wah, and the wah pedal is just doing its job.
