Anyone ever use a bass/guitar case as a pedalboard?

Well I've got a couple of cases that I don't use and I need a board so I'm thinking of turning one of them into a pedal board. I have no problem making my own board but the problem I keep running into is a case or bag for it. I'm thinking a bass case would be pretty good. Mount the pedals on the top of the case so it would be upside down. I'm thinking maybe change out the hinges for a couple of latches so you could lift off the cover. Anybody got any opinions about this?

Nice! My board is big enough for a guitar... it's a ginormous aluminum Rondo case. Your idea sounds more structurally sound, though. And the detachable latches are key - I couldn't imagine having a giant, unremovable top on the case when onstage...

If you do it, be sure to post pics!

I had same idea, but thought it will be too heavy. I think you just need to lay out your pedals and measure it all, then you will know, which case will be best for you. But always leave some spot for new pedals you might buy in future

Might be cumbersome for smaller stages, unless you plan on always performing on 1000+ people venues.
