Anyone ever used their EBS Microbass as an Acoustic Guitar Preamp? Not acoustic bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, All TBers

I am not sure if this is the right folder to start this thread..
But here we go..

I am in need of a pre-amp for my steel string acoustic Guitar (Not an acoustic bass)..
You know like Martin, Taylors, Takamine etc.. etc.. acoustic guitar..

Now, since I already have got a EBS Microbass II for my bass.
I am thinking of using it for my acoustic guitar as well..

Has anyone tried this for theirs?

Did you like the outcome or not?

Of course, the freq range might be different,
but wanna hear from your experiences...
I have not tried this setup yet,
as I got no pickup for the guitar yet...

Thanks in advance !!!

sucho

i did once. my pickup is not great, but it sounded pretty good. i'd at least give it a shot before spending more money on a pre.

Thanks for that Jimmy..!
I will try that,
but I have never tried an acoustic guitar preamp
so have no benchmark..

i don't think you're going to have much more luck. the microbass isn't exactly a common item. however, i will add that channel a is designed to work well with piezo pickups.

also, have you tried it yet? did you like it? if so, stick with it. if not, get something else. simple as that. what matters isn't what other people think...it's what YOU think.

Thanks for your tip again Jimmy!!

I have ordered a soundhole pickup
and is due to arrive this week
I will try and see how I go..
But as I have never tried other pre-amps for acoustics
I just wanted to see what "better" options out there other than MB... if MB is not good enough

I used it with a Mandocello for a while. The parametric EQ is really helpful to avoid honky tones from the piezo.
