AFAIK, he doesnt run any effects, just him and his trusty ole' Deluxe P. I have their live DVD, have watched it a LOT and yeah, I'm fairly certain he's running unaffected.

FWIW, I really dig his playing.

The pedal in that pic is one of the early prototypes of the Multiwave Bass Distortion It's actually a guitar version of the pedal modded for the bass (hence the tape on top)

I actually like Jeph. For the style of music they play, he consistently has great tone, IMO.

I love the tone on the Artwork album, some really unique dirty tones. If you watch the DVD of the making of you can spot the Multiwave prototype with BASS labelled on it in the studio shots!

I preordered the album and it came with a limited edition DVD. Also got a signed poster which is framed in my lounge room!
You cant get the limited edition one in stores in Australia, is a digipak. You may be able to get it in the states or off the net.

Jeph originally used the Hot Hand Wah. He was a big fan and toured with it for about a year, but found the somewhat subtle effect to be a bit lost in their particular sound. Jeph, Ryan S., Dan K. and Victor W. were the first to take the bass multiwave prototypes on the road back in 2008. These boxes were in the small guitar MW box, but with white tape all over them. Jeph swapped his for a production model last fall, but I think Dan is still using the original proto. Note that 3 of the 4 still use the simple, non-pro model. Jeph uses the Multiwave as a key component of his sound, and is a big fan. All four of these guys are intelligent, articulate, considerate, and very nice to work with. If you want to know who helped us the most in the early days to prove out the Bass Multiwave, well, now you know.
