Have been toying with the idea of adding a manual wah to my board. Already have the 00Funk on it so I'm not sure if it'll be useful to have a manual wah.
Would a manual wah be redundant? |

They can have overlapping areas of application, but I find that I use them completely differently from one another. |

Each of them is a completely different thing. |

But then I added a DOD fx25 (2 knob version) and realized that there wasn't a need for the manual wah anymore. To me, they sounded too similar, pointless having both on the board, and the filter is much easier to use. |

I tend to do a lot of fixed wah versus envelope filter stuff, so I like to have both (though not on at the same time). I'm actually going to switch them so they're on parallel boards which could get interesting. |

However I try to avoid buying things I don't know that I have a practical use for, however cool they may be. Leaves me more money to invest in the things I do need. |

Obviously I use em for completely different applications. The QTron is for more driving bass lines that I throw it on for a little added flavor (not to make it funky! Funk is in the fingers! ). The wah pedal is for slower sweeping for things like solos, or to stick at a certain position and run before a fuzz or overdrive. Both are useful to me, but as always YNMV (Your Need May Vary) and YMMV. |

as others say... different application... it all depends on what you need... if you don't need it it is useless to have it on the board!!!

It's trial and error for me actually. I'm quite keen to pick up a manual wah to see how useful it would be beside my 00Funk. Just wanted to see if others had any experience with this arrangement. Personally feel that there could be a place for both on my board. |

the black cat has a wah and some sort of fuzz/ overdrive built into... the wah has 3 modes: 1 is cry baby, 2 original vox, 3 is bass
FUZZ has the controls for drive and some sort of mix of tone/level/gain control(you select the freq of the peak of dist or something like that)
it also has some buttons you manage how you operate the two efx together... you can select the wah and fuzz mode independent or you can set it for them to work together when wah is engaged... and lots more...
i had 5 wahs before rocktron and i don't plan on changing the black cat any time soon... its every thing i need in a manual wah
if you don't need the fuzz i suggest to try rocktron 3 star wah witch is the same a s rocktron with out the fuzz!!!

The demon gets used with Dist / fuzz for big swelling screamy sounds, whereas the other filters are used more for sharpening the attack of notes, and helping to add a touch of funk(!)

DOD is out of business, but these pedals are fairly common in the used market.
I have other envelope effects in my multi-effects unit but non as musical as the DOD. I also use this pedal to produce percussive roto-tom type effects. It is a fun pedal.
