Anyone have experience with the Fireworx?

I've been doing some research on the Fireworx and I have a question for you guys that have spent some time with one. It has the facility to generate basic synth wave forms by tracking the pitch of incoming audio signals. I'm looking for something to generate sawtooth waveforms and square waves (with pulse width control) from my bass signal. I'm not really worried about the filtering as I would be doing that externally with a recently aquired Beigel Envelope Controled Filter. I don't need to worry about losing signal dynamics as the filter has a side-chain/effect loop setup to extract filter dynamics before processing. I can't seem to find any clips and am just wondering if the Fireworx will work in real time (ie not have too much lag time or false triggering on bass signal). I know tracking is more difficult in the bass range due to the longer waveforms of the notes. Right now I'm using a Korg G5 bass synth with the filter dialed out and am getting some awesome sounds, but I'm looking for a bit more control (especially over pulse width). Any insight or other alternative recomendations would be much apprieciated. |
