Since i only use 3 pedals now i was thinking of doing away with the board and just using the top of my amp to hold them. Anyone else do anything similer to this?

Yes, I've done that. I've also played without pedals and used technique alone to get a variety of sounds.

But now I'm craving a big fat board!

When I had few effects, I used to carry my pedals in a case I made from an old Makita drill case.
I would just set them up on the floor every time I played. But I got tired of having to set them up so I got on board.

3 Pedals

I have three pedals also that I keep velcro'd to the top of my amp.

I'm only using OD, comp, and tuner with my band these days. I carry them in my bass case and set them on top of my head.

I have three pedals semi-permanently velcro'd to a small Stompin' Ground board, and the rest just float around nearby.

I'm kinda torn: the stuff on the board is so much easier to deploy, because it's all pre-wired, just pull it out of the road case & go...but I also feel like it tends to pidgeon-hole me, whereas with the "Free Range Stompboxes" I'm more likely to experiment with different combinations & connecting them in different orders.

i put my compressor, overdrive, and distortion on top of my amp, with my volume pedal at my feet so i can adjust it with my foot on the fly. with this small amount of pedals, i'm ok with this setup, but i may go the board route with more pedals.

No board here yet, my 10 pedals just kick around on the floor messing up the place, i'm not gigging atm so there's really no incentive for me to drop £50 of my hard earned (well, mostly earned) money on something i don't really need

I plan on building a board over winter break, it shouldn't take very long I'll just need a good case to put it in...

I didn't have a board until a few years ago. Before that I usually had my pedals on top of the amp, although in the pre-board days I never had more than maybe 3 at one time.

I tried a miniboard for a bit but that all ended in tears. All the hassle, none of the fun. Back to jumbobutt now. Or just one dirt box. Depends on my mood.

I haven't been using a board, but as of today, I'm up to five pedals and plan on three more, so that may be changing.

I stopped using pedals about 10 years ago....all I need is a P with flats, a P with rounds, and a tube amp and I'm set!

Since I can't see my pedals (or anything else) and I no longer play barefoot, my gadgets go into a rack. It's a bit of a hassel wandering to my stack whenever a change is needed, but it's the best solution.

I never use pedals or a board on stage. I specifically don't use this one:

I don't use effects much, but I have used up to three. Never bothered with a pedal board, but even with three I might if I started using them all the time.

I don't use any effects at all....I have a rack tuner...the only thing I do is change my tone on my guitar by boosting or cutting bass mid and treble.....in the studio I use plug ins but never any kind of effects....just not a big fan....I don't seem to need them
