Anyone here tried the Tanabe "Dumkudo" or "Zenkudo"?

Over on TGP all the 6-stringers are gaga over anything that is claimed to sound like a Dumble amp. From their fevered idolatry I have gathered that one of the very best pedals for that tone is called the "Dumkudo" or "Zenkudo" by a very small-time builder in Japan: http://www.tanabe.tv/top/kudou/index-e.html

Obviously what's good on guitar doesn't always work out for bass, for a variety of reasons. Anyone here tried it? Or tried another "claimed Dumble-like" pedal on bass?

The dumble OD sound + bass doesn't sound very appealing to me when I try to imagine it in my head but I suppose there's really only one way to know for sure. I listened to a Zenkudo demo on youtube though (guitar) and it does make me curious.

I do know one thing, those guys are crazy for low gain blues rock tonez.

I haven't tried one, but my cousin (a guitarist) said it sounds great and is really versitile. It might be bass-worthy on some settings.

Maybe this is a stupid idea (and if it is I'm sorry for even bringing it up) but...

Why not try one of those OLC Umble kits 1st? This way if you could mod it during construction to be better suited for bass. Also if you like the sound, you know you're onto something, but if not you could prolly sell it off either here or @ TGP and recoup your cost for the kit w/o having to worry about too much $$ depreciation since you bought it in kit form and would be selling a completed pedal.
