anyone interested in blend/xover boxes

Sign in to disble this ad
.. i'm making a few, as well as some bypass loopers but i thought bassist would be more interested in the blend box idea.
but combining them with other useful effects such as boost or limiter.

does anyone have anything they'd like to see in one. i'm going to be building for custom orders but around that i'm going to make some standard models which i'm still refining.
(this of course is only a post for suggestions and not for sales.)

basically the idea is an all-in-one 'utility' box that could fix problems with rigs without going for a ton of pedals.

What I see asked for most is an output volume. Next would be a phase switch.

a blend pedal with a cross-over and individual pots for 'lows' , 'highs', 'xover freq', and a big 'blend' knob that could be turned with your toe. Plus a expression pedal input, signal order reverse stomp switch, and a phase inversion toggle switch. Fit it all into a standard 3.5" x 4.5" enclosure. The Cadillac of blend pedals .

...jus sayin, it hasn't been done before

I'd buy that.

I would like a bypass/loop with all the in/out/send/return jacks on top instead of sides and perhaps the option for stereo returns and outs as small as reasonable to save board space.
Option for on/off or momentary switching would be cool.

Here is the custom blender/utility box I ordered from T1M. Supposed to take up to 6 weeks, I'm on week 14 of waiting now.

Custom pedal design. Does this make sense to you?

I agree with the others that incorporating a x-over into the pedal is a cool idea. Most of the reason bass players blend effects is to keep the uneffected lows. Why not account for this fact in your design by blending a lp filtered loop with a hp filtered loop. Leaving a loop disconnected would keep it "clean" but you could. Also separate your effects into frequency bands so you could put octave or filter effects on your lows and fuzz on the highs.

Whatever you build, be realistic about estimating your build times!

the only limitation is that i'm trying to stick to one enclosure for all the variations i'm doing.

taking some of the limitations out of a crossover, i had the idea of one channel with an lpf and the other with an hpf. achieving similar more controllable effect. stereo and mono switch(sending out to two amps or just for use with dirt and a single amp).
the main inspiration was for how to use it with a guitar amp when you don't have a rhythm guitarist.

I think one loop is more realistic but i may step up to a bigger box.. of course with order and channel switching for that loop. is this what you mean by signal order?(bisson)

if output volume is useful its going to be something that boosts and not just attentuates...

well so much to put in a pedal some serious consideration needed- keep them coming...
It will absolutely have to be simple except for the custom requests.
