Anyone know how to Build a proximity control plate?

Anyone know how to Build a proximity control plate, basically like the Zvex probes? If you haven't seen the new muse dvd, GO BUY IT NOW....its really really good. anyway he has one built into his guitar. I thought that was pretty cool.

My thoughts are to place them in various instruments for just some random noise effects.

Any help is great!!

I haven't seen any of Matt Bellamy's guitars with a Zvex probe in. He has several with Korg Kaoss pads though, which he uses to make some cool effects. Are you sure that they aren't what you are thinking of?

Yeah, I think you are right with the Korg Kaoss, any idea how he is wiring that in?

Some interesting stuff here including links to the luthier that made bellamy's guitars for him....
