| | | Anyone to recomend Bass Stompboxes/Pedals

I'm about to get a Rumble 60 Bass amp and I've been discussing with my brother different pedals to get. I wanted to buy just Behringer as they are cheap, but he's telling me to put a little more money and time into buying a pedal as I won't regret the extra money loss for the higher quality effect. Does anyone else have any knowledge as to good bass pedals to get? I'm looking for an Equalizer, Flanger, Overdrive, Chorus, Synthesizer and a Delay, preferably stereo delay. I'm already getting a Tu300 tuner pedal from Behringer. If it helps, I've got a RBX 170 Yamaha Bass Guitar.
Anyone?
And help at all is appreciated. I was thinking about getting a Big Muff fuzz pedal, but was also told that the Behringer Bod100 comes surprisingly close to it? |

There's a lot of information in there and I'll bet that with a bit of searching you'll find what you're after.
What bands are you into? Any specific examples of the tone you're looking for?
The Boss GEB-7 is a nice little EQ. There are a heap of decent digital delay and if you look on the classifieds here or on ebay, you'll be ble to pick something up really cheap. Any reason you want a stereo delay? With one amp, it's not going to make any difference. Check out the Boss DD-3.
There are a million overdrives out there. Go to a music store and have a play! Check out www.ehx.com too.
Actually, you should check out the Talkbass Wiki. There's a database of effects soundclips on there that can help in deciding what's for you. Youtube is good too.

You got to try them all out yourself to see how some effects sound.
But here are my recommendations: equalizer: BOSS GEB-7 (but, do you really need it?) flanger: dunno, I don't like flanger. I prefer phaser. MXR overdrive: lots to choose from... Ibanez Phat Hed I liked chorus: BOSS CE-5 (I prefer it over the BOSS Bass Chorus) synthesizer: lots to choose from, for a newbie I'd recommend Behringer BSY-600 or Ibanez SB-7 Bass Synthesizer delay: BOSS DD-3, DD-7 or Line 6 EchoPark |

| | | | Thanks for the info. I've already researched into Overdrive pedals, and it seems Big Muff is the best way to go, I dont really want anything heavy though. Just a moderate fuzz to add to the sound. I'm into a lot of genre's, alternative, indie, math rock, rock, funk, jazz...
I wanted a stereo delay because, although with one amp it does nothing, my friend has recording equipment that we use increasingly more often, and with that kind of delay it would add more layers to some music.
I've chekced stores that I'm local to, like andertons and Back Alley Music, I've also checked Behringer and Dolphin Music, I just need to test them now, probably when I go out and my new amp.
Again thanks for the help. It's much appreciated.

For overdrive, you should check out the Ashdown Hyperdrive. There's alot of sounds in there if you take some time playing around with different settings. Seeing as they're your first pedals I think you should try them before buying.

I have a G2.1u for all my 'other' effect needs and like I said before, I thought I was done with Zoom.
If you are bent on individual stompboxes then you really need to just play them. Every purchase I've made without playing the box has led to disappointment, every purchase I've made after playing the box has led to some good usage. I may have sold it in the end, but it was because I had stopped using it, not because I never liked it. |

I personally like the Boss flangers; the BF-2 or BF-3 are the ticket. I like the BF-3 just a bit better, but the difference is very small and either will do the job.
BTW, a Big muff is generally not considered an overdrive in the traditional sense (driven tubes), it is usually clasified as a fuzz. As to fuzz, I'd look at the Bass Big Muff or the Little Big Muff. The bass muff will keep lows better and be heard in a mix a bit better, but the general consensus is that the LBM has a better tone. Try them both. If you are looking for the tubes on fire sound, look at a Digitech Bad Monkey.

But that's just me

a little extra cheese can get a fulltone bass drive (i love mine but they get mixed reviews)
Chorus - Boss (I guess) I find chorus to be uber particular - my MXR Stereo Chorus (w/ low pass filter) suits my need.
Filter - DOD fx-25b these are cheap - everyone seems to love them just long enough to get a real one.
Phase/Flange - your own risk, I find them unnecessary - especially in a band with a guitar player handling most of the modulation effects (chances are if the song needs some flanger or phaser let your guitar player do it) - but if you want to have fun get a old boss bass flanger (there cheap but hard to find)
synth - i would get the digitech bass synth wah first, just so you realize you dont want that crap, if you want a synth you have to pay for it - the good ones are 250+
eq - mxr 10 band eq (most companies cant screw up eqs) - its warm low on noise and the sliders light up - pimp your pedalboard - son
preamp - sansamp - set it and forget it
CHEERS!
the best advice is do your research dont buy pedals if you think you might sell it at the end of the day, my pedal acquisition typically is buy some stupid **** I dont need, then when I realize it sounds like ****, I sell it, save and wait to buy the real deal. I have since learned from my mistakes, waiting for pedals sucks just as much as buying ****** pedals BTW.

The PolyChorus has delay, chorus, flage, phase, and a crazy uselss ....thing
Grab that and a Muff... set and forget! (well ok, you'll be twidling the knobs for hours...)
Also, if youre getting a Fender Rumble amp you might not even need an EQ pedal (when in doubt, boost the mids )
