Anyone still use a Zoom 506II Bass effects pedal?

.
I bought my very first effects unit a few months back, a 2nd hand "Zoom 506II Bass".
To be honest I fiddled with it for a day or two, then put it away.

After being told by friend that he thought there was a way to switch between patches the way I wanted to I have re-visited the little 506II and really like what I have here.

I reset it to factory settings and tweaked a few of the pre-set patches to suit my taste.

Now I know its just an outdated, low-end of the spectrum effects unit and there are much better ones out there, but does anyone here still use one?
I'm curious as to what sounds you have gotten from it and how.
Of course sound quality is totally subjective, many variables such as bass and amp used will affect it all etc. etc. , but I really want to hear what people found works and what doesn't.

For example; maybe you liked the C2 distortion but made it sound fuller by giving it "C3" compression, an EQ of 48, and a little "chorus 1".
..... that sort of thing.

I've said it before & i'll say it again, the 506II octave down is the subbiest, best tracking, most deliciously nourishing octave i've ever heard. Although i don't use it very often any more, i have no hesitation in popping it in-line when recording if i feel the need for subby octave goodness!

(Quotes button won't work at the moment for some reason.)

Got to agree with you there.
That's one of the first effects that impressed me and I began experimenting with quite a lot.
Its great to play up the neck (where you'd normally be playing down low in a song) and use the octave effect to fatten the sound right up.

I had one and was impressed. Have upgraded to the 708 'cos I wanted a footpedal.

The synthy sounds are pretty good.

You make me wanna whip out the older Zooms for a spin, but I am having so much fun with the B2/B2.1u. I do recall selling off the Boss OC2 because the 506 sounded so good.

I have an old 503 "amp simulator" for guitar and bass. I've used it to gig with on both guitar and bass....if you dial it in right, it sounds great. The only drawback, is that it isn't as easy to adjust on the fly as the newer units.
