I did a search, but couldn't find that much info. It's had some great reviews, but would like to know if it works well on bass?

Oh well, here's my latest board incarnation, with the Coca Comp on it. It's the white one to the right, between the Pitchblack and the Dr. Distorto.
It's a cool looking pedal, as the picture in warwick.hoy's post above clearly shows. |

I should not be allowed to have a credit card. | This is the kind of compressor I like. Simple. Two knobs. |

Also you wrote it has a low ratio, 4:1, and transparent compression. You wrote the same about the BBE Opto. Which one is punchier? Which one did you prefer and why?
Thank you! |

Touchstyle players have a lot of low-amplitude signal that they want to bring to the foreground, and that is exactly what this pedal does. Other compressors can have a similar effect, but this one is specialized in that way.
I like the OKKO a little better than the BBE, but it breaks down like this: if you love what the OKKO does to your sound, then it is worth the money. If you are not sure about it, then it is NOT worth the extra cost compared to the BBE. If you have $250 to spend, there are many other options worth considering. The point of the BBE is that it's one of the best $50 to $80 comps out there. |

I've been disappointed by my old DBX 266XL on that side.. not only for that bad ''frrrr'' it does when the bass signal crosses the threshold.. but also 'cause it was everything but punchy to me. Compression was too much sterile. I liked it with guitars anyway.
EBS was better, but disappointed me as well. (Just tried one, maybe internal trimmers were not set correctly, or maybe I had too much expectations being one of the most sought after bass compressors).
Now I was considering this Okko Comp, just 'cause of that ''compression specialized for touchstyle players'' and I liked the BassWorld video demo. Also I'm considering the BBE and the MXR Bass Comp.
I don't know why, but I feel the MXR would disappoint me as well. I liked that ''loud&mastered'' studio bass sound of the Dunlop promo. But then I saw other unofficial demos showing totally the opposite. That beautiful studio sound? Got lost.
What do you think?
I read all your reviews anyway. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
