I saw one one the classifieds, my guitarist used to use a GNX which I thought the sound quality was terrible.

Anyone else use these for anything?

Hi there,
Yes I had one of these for a while. It was a great attempt to be a bass players "swiss army knife"; multi track recorder, amp modeling and effects. But I found mine to be really noisy "hissy" on all of the settings. I actually tried several different ones and they all had the same issue. If you look at some of the reviews here and on harmony central several people mention the noise. Hope this helps,
B

One thing you can do with noisy pedals and multi-effects that you like certain sounds on but don't want on all the time is run them through a true bypass loop pedal. Then you can take the noisy unit in and out of the signal chain as needed.

my friend used to play bass and had one of these. when he stopped playing, he just up and gave me that thing. i knew how much it cost so i tried to make it useful. it was not. i ended up selling it because the tone was terrible and i just couldn't justify having it around when i could sell it to help fund the tube amp i wanted at the time. one of the smarter moves i've made with gear selling/buying

yeah, thats basically my experience with the GNX then. we used to use it as a disto and boost for my guitarists poor old 112 peavey bandit against a metal drummer and a 410 and it was loud enough to hear but it sounded bad through a mixer cause of all the noise it gave out
