Anyone use effects/stompboxes for "their sound", then run to house/power amp?

That's my ideal setup, not having to carry an amp/rack for my tone, just having it all in the board along with the effects.

Just curious.

Curious how others do this as well. I always had straight bass tones but am just getting into a project using effects. It seems like it changes the fundamental tone and could really mess up the sound guy.

Yeah. SansAmp Bass Driver DI. Go Effects > SansAmp > House board via DI /power amp with SansAmp in Pre mode.

Sansamp here.
I never even bring a separate preamp for the backline/tube slave, haven't done for over a year now.......
BASS > PEDALBOARD with Sansamp DI > TUBE SLAVE

Main reason I do this is to simplify and cut down on the amount of setting up etc and amount of gear I have to carry.

Here as well - effects > Sansamp VT Bass > FOH

Usually I run the Sansamp into my power amp though, since I like to have a monitor with my own volume control.

My sound is designed that way, my onstage amp is simply a monitor, I usually create & fine tune my sounds on headphones or thru studio monitors.

My VTbass provides my actual tone, i bypass my amp's preamp and just run into the effects return, essentially turning my amp into a power amp and speaker, therefore hopefully my 'sound' should be the same FOH as it is out of my amp

Same here -

I run Bass - Pedalboard w/ Sansamp at end - split to FOH and to poweramp/cab, for all the reasons listed above.

I haven't been gigging, but my amp (AI Clarus) is super transparent and that's my clean tone. Everything else is pedals.

I plan to have this setup (Bass > Zoom b9.1ut > FOH + power amp/cab onstage). To keep 'my tone' wherever I go as best as possible.

If it's mainly for on stage monitoring, a transparent little combo does the job. I had an EA iAmp combo for this purpose but now have gone the lightweight Markbass route!

i do too for one of my regular gigs.
i've currently got the hartke vxl on my board, but have also used the M80.
For monitoring i use IEM, and there are no amps at all on stage.

i do have both the bass exciter and a DOD meatbox to add balls to the sound, and give it some 'extra'

Ever since I bought the VT Bass, I've bypassed my TKO 115's pre. It's a little hummy, but I thought tube Ampegs were to begin with. In that case, the fine folks at Tech 21 are a lot better at this tube amp emulation thing than I previously thought.

Anyway, it sounds really nice. I've even used the VT Bass as a DI into my laptop. Too bad I have possibly the worst input cable imaginable. I'm always terrified that I'll fry my laptop.
