I was thinking about picking up one of these and using it strictly for the fx, anyone doing this? how are your results?

I don't use the XT Live, but you might want to look at the M9/M13 since those are strictly fx.

I use mine for FX only. Since I got my Sansamp RBI no need for the modeling. I use effects very little so it's nice to have a big selection available without dealing with the hassle and expense of lots of stompboxes. Some other benefits are:

Tuner
Volume Pedal (something most bassists don't mess with but comes in handy)
ONE power supply, ONE in ONE out. No messy patch cables to deal with and no pedal board required.
Ablility to enable multiple effects with one press.

The new M series looks pretty cool but they don't have the volume / wah pedal.

If your looking for one really killer effect like a Chourus or a Phaser the XT may not be for you but if you want to have a big selection of pretty good effects at your feet the XT works just fine.

went ahead and bought it, got it for a good price, so it'll be worth it try it out, if it don't work for what I want it for now, it'll work for scratch recording and home practice

I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I'm new to effects, so instead of paying hundreds (thousands?) for multiple pedals I'm not sure if I want nor have no clue about, I figured I couldnt go wrong with the small investment I made on the XT live.

Overall it's a blast! One thing I've noticed is it's going to take some tweaking to get the levels right as far as consistent volume for the premade settings, but with a little quality time it definately seems doable. The fx sounds are cool, configurable and numerous. I'll probably never use the vast majority of them, but they are very fun to experement with, and I found my creative juices really flowing while I messed around with them (for hours!).

I really like the edit software also. Much easier to sit in a chair at my computer with my bass than indian style on the floor squinting at that tiny screen. I'm looking forward to playing with the amp mods as well, although I'm not so sure how necessary they are with my Hartke 5500 and 410xl, which I'm definately happy with already. I'm probably going to blow out most of the presets to make space for my own settings, and ones from other users on the Line 6 website. I've found a couple of really nice user created sounds already, and there's like 430 more pages to look through.

I know it's early, and I haven't tried it in a live setting yet, but I'm quite stoked, hope you enjoy yours as much as I am!
