This unit gets bagged a lot on this forum but this clip has some great sounds as far as I'm concerned... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7rZWOvG7jA
I like it as it has blend and if I can achieve sounds like the clip (the first is my fav) will be stoked.
My other areas of interest are th Ibanez PD-7 or Ashdown Drive plus for an aggressive always on sound with no bottom end loss.
Opinions are always welcome.

| | | | Oh.....I like that! Been thinking about trying some effects pedals for bass and that sounds like a strong possibility. |

| | | I had one. Sold it to get a Big Muff Pi. Probably a mistake. People used to praise the Big Muff Pi, now it's getting bashed. I should have kept the BOSS. It kept GREAT low end with distortion. If you're thinking about it, I'd get it. It's reliable also. Damn, maybe I'll have to re-buy it instead of the Bigg Muff

I agree with this. My first pedal for my bass was the OBD-3 because I wanted some distortion or a little bit of overdrive. This thing was horrible for what I wanted. Was too fuzzy. I tinkered with this thing for 2 hours and could never get a sound I liked with it.
Sold it on craigslist a week later. Ordered a Sansamp BDDI and within 10 minutes I had the distortion I'd been looking for for several years.
It all depends on you're looking for. TRY to try it out before you buy it. I thought it would be the answer to what I was looking for because I'd never been disappointed with Boss's pedals from my guitar days....But I could not like this pedal if you paid me to. Try it out first.

The Boss is OK for flat-out distortion, but imho the VT is much warmer, has a far more usable range of gritty tones (especially at lower distortion settings), and just plain works better for me. |

King Buzzo may not look like he knows whats going on, but the 20 some odd records hes released say otherwise & he agrees with me

Set Bass to boost just past 1 or so and set your High to around noon and you've got a nice, powerful sound. Used one live from about 3/4 years with a Jazz and a Thunderbird, always sounded monstrous and really given my three-piece a bit of oomph when needed. Has now bene replaced by a Fulltone Bass Drive, but there's no way I'm selling it - too useful in the studio as a 2 band eq and for extra kick when combined with a fuzz. |
