Also, I'm planning on modding my Fender American Deluxe Jazz to a P/J configuration as soon as possible, so if an SX P/J vs. a Fender P/J makes a difference to you I can do clips with that bass instead once I mod it.

I'm extremely picky about my dirty sounds, and dirt always seems to gnarl up the sound of an un-EQ'd passive bass more where actives and EQ'd basses sound a little flat and fake to me, always have. I've already downgraded the Jazz to Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, but it's still a little anemic compared to my SG, especially with Fuzz, so a nice hot P Bass pickup is really just the thing to get what I want out of it. Now I just need to decide between another Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder, or the Fender 62'. Leaning towards the Fender, if I can find one. I'm also having a Kahler Bass Trem put on one or both of my main basses, which will be totally sweet. |

The thing to remember with the OC-2 and any bass is that the suboctave will sound the same with whatever bass you plug into it, it's a synthesized note, which has nothing to do with the tone of your bass whatsoever, so it should sound the same as the SG Bass with the only -1 octave sound as with any other bass. However, with the clean blended in it will be different, so I'll do soundclips of that and that with dirt. |

Its not only the required-in-FX thing to do, but its only fair to do all the possible samples you can |

Frantone Lo Tone Classic Fuzz
Analogman Mini Chorus (Deep Mod)
Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive
Z. Vex Box of Rock
Lovepedal ProValve
Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face
MXR Carbon Copy
Boss OC-2 (1 octave down and dry)
EHX Nano Small Stone
As for the new P pickup, I would recommend the Seymour Duncan Antiquity II for P Bass. Should get a big fat tone, while still having a '60s P vibe.
Thanks! |

I probably won't be able to do all those soundclips on thursday but I'll get as many as I can, and I'll try to do them all when I can. Unfortunately I'll be gone next week, so I'll probably have to finish it up after that. |

Something I meant to ask when you originally did your clips for the Soul Vibe - could you do one with the Rate and Intensity cranked?
And if possible, run it with some fuzz. I loved the sound you got out of the vibe and the 108. |

What other wah pedals have you tried other than the wilson wah? I've been on the fence about getting one.
Thanks,
Cliff |

Thanks,
Cliff | I've tried a few different wahs. I've had a couple 105Q's, a couple Morley Bass Wahs, a Morley Power Wah Fuzz, the original Dunlop Bass Wah (GCB-100 or whatever it was), the Snarling Dogs Bootzilla Wah, and some guitar wahs, including a 535Q and a Teese Wizard Wah, also tried a Budda Wah and I'm not sure what else. The Wilson is a great bass wah, I love mine, and I use it over all the other wahs I've tried. |
