Aphex Bass Exciter + Overdrive or distortion

This may seem to be an odd question, but I am going to ask it anyway. I have listened to the Aphex demo and have read about it. I have read that it emphasizes the harmonics, which make the sound to be fuller. That is the dumbed down King David explanation. The real explanation may be more precise and complicated, so don't jump all over me.

From what I understand, distortions can take the fundamental and the harmonics and dirty them up. I also understand that distortions really come alive with dirtying up the harmonics.

Would adding an Aphex Bass Exciter before a distortion or OD pedal really make a big difference?
