Aphex Bass Xciter vs. BBE Sonic Stomp

Sign in to disble this ad
'Evening.

Been reading about those 2 for a while and tried a BBE in a shop recently. Haven't seen an ABX in a shop around here.
Checked out Harmony-Central about them. Seems the BBE is a little ahead quality-wise, but if the ABX demo on their site is any reliable, it sounds better than the BBE (IMO).

Anybody have a take on either one or both of those units ?

Thx.

I owned the Aphex unit for a while. The last time I used it was in a church setting (as a DI.) After the service was over and the building was quiet, I turned it off and immediately noticed things got "more" quieter! I turned it back on and found it was generating a nasty hiss. The highs on the Aphex were not cranked!

Yeah, seems to be the main gripe about the Aphex, that and its cheap built. Was that the case with your unit as well ?

The 1/4'' jacks are just kinda sitting in the case (instead of being held in place by a nut.)
