Question Aphex Punch Trouble

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone else out there have problems with the Aphex Punch factory comp pedal?
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...sor?sku=150133
I got one from musiciansfriend.com and it made seriously loud noises when the decible meter passes -10dB. I mean this thing just about blew my amp and it did it every time the -10 dB threshold was passed, getting louder or softer. I sent it back for a new one and the new one does the exact same thing. I use a 1 spot to plug in all my effects.

I have tried changing the settings on the punch factory in every posible way other than cracking it open and adjusting the pots. Either I am missing something or they sent me back the same bunk pedal.

They are known for doing exactly that.

I`ve been using that pedal for almost 2 years now and never had a problem. Well, in fact, it ran out of batteries during last show, but that`s my fault

It`s probable one of the best stompbox compressors along with EBS Multicomp and Demeter Compulator, very musical and smooth sounding.

I would suggest to try the unit using a battery and not the one spot. Inspect the connector on the Punch where the onespot plugs into. You might find, as I have, that the power connector comes very close and touches the chasis, shorting out making popping sounds intermittently. I put some insulating tape on the chasis at the hole where the power connector connects to the punch......Lapicide

Why not try an Opto Stomp instead?

I thought the design/build was terrible - footswitch played up within a week, jacks were not secured to the case (just supported by the solder connections on the board). It sounds great, is easy to use but is not fit for even the mildest of gigging.....IMO etc etc
