Aphex Xciter DI

Sign in to disble this ad
I was hoping to use my pedal as my DI for a gig this Weekend.. I have had a sound guy try my Aphex Punch Factory at a gig once to see how that went as a DI but he said the output was too low that he would have to crank it. But, nobody else seems to have a problem with this, so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.

I have tested the output of the Xciter with my recording interface it seems quite weak (I am used to plug and play DI on amps ). In the manual it says it runs at about -50 to -60 DBu so does that make it quite low? The settings I have are Ground ON, Wet OFF, Pad OFF. In this case I am running a Geddy Lee which is passive and only a boss tuner in front.

If it's running at -50db, that's a moderate microphone-level signal. Your sound guy shouldn't have a real issue running it. He just needs to know that it's a mic level rather than line level signal. I use the DI on my Bass Xciter to run DI to the house when I'm playing at church and it works and sounds fine.

Thanks for the response, very helpful . I feel the last one was still learning so he didnt pick that up and I wasnt much help to him . The soundguy I will have this weekend does bands all the time so I will just mention the Microphone-Level signal to him when we are setting up.
