Art Dual Levelar Rack Compressor

Anyone ever used an ART Dual Levelar 2 ch. tube compressor? I'm considering buying a used one to link to my Ampeg B2R, which only has a limiter. Any thoughts? Looking for compression for slap playing, primarily...

I haven't used the dual one yet (I mean to eventually), but the little mono one is pretty decent. When you say "slap" are you talking about really aggro hits or more under-control slapping?

Mainly under-control stuff. I'm pretty happy with my tone when I cut the mids on my head but I'm thinking I might get an even more balanced sound with a compressor. Do you connect the mono compressor to your pedal chain or do you place it atop your amp and run it through the effects loop?

The mono one can be connected either way. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "balanced tone"? Also note the FAQ linked in my sig.

When I say "balanced" I mean closer in dynamic range. Currently, my pops are a bit louder than my slaps. I've narrowed the gap by practicing and improving my thumb technique but the dynamic range is still a little wider than I'd prefer. Does that help? I'll take a look at your FAQ and reviews.

Actually, the seller just told me he recommends a DBX for my purposes over the ART. He has either a 160A or a 166A for sale as well. Read your reviews and it looks like you liked both, especially the 166A...
