ART Levelar settings

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all! I just scored a used, but like new, ART Levelar compressor for 25 bucks. Just wondering if anyone that uses, or has used this, would share their "favorite" settings for electric bass. And, do you recommend putting it before or after the preamp? I mainly want to level out my sound a little without affecting the dynamics too much, and maybe add a little more "punch" as well.

Thanks in advance!

Levelar's are cool. It's been a long time since I've used mine, don't remember specific settings. Just use your ears, as it will vary according to how you play, and watch the gain reduction lights as a guide. If I remember correctly it likes a line level signal better than an instrument level, so post preamp is probably better, but works either way.

I put mine first in the signal chain, have the buttons on 'active', 'comp' and 'auto' modes, have the threshold set at 9 o'clock, and output set at 3 o'clock.
