Ashdown Amp Effect Send / Return

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had an Ashdown EB 15-180 amp combo for about a year now and have just recieved a few second-hand pedals from a friend of mine. This is really a question posed to people who have a similiar (or identical) amp.

I was wondering whether it was better to use the standard (Guitar - Effect - Amp) method or use the seperate outputs on my amp.

I tried using the seperate outputs and it just caused a lot of hassle, but I didn't know if there were any advantages I hadn't found.

Basic rule : Pedals go between bass and amp, racks go into effect loop.
From there you can do things a lot differently, based on respective impedance and level of the stuff you plug.

If you only use pedals yeah they're usually better right after bass.
However some pedals work very well in the effect loop. TC Electronic units for example.
