Ashdown Chorus plus pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
Is it just me or is this pedal a total piece of crap? I'm so pissed off about it since all the other ashdown pedals I've tried out have been so cool. I just can't get a cool sound out of it, it hums so freaking loud, sometimes it even sounds like an airplane launching when you play the E-string!!

Ashdown Chorus Plus

Any other comments on Ashdown Chorus Plus? I'm new to effects, but I'm looking for a stompbox to use a different sound in some ballads or soloing. So I thought chorus + flanger in one box would be a good choice? My other equipment is only a passive Lakland Skyline DJ5 + Ashdown ABM EVO II combo. And the setup handles the job quite well.
I'm playing mostly in a band doing 70's rock and blues covers in small to medium venues. Unfortunately I have to mail-order it, so I cannot give it a try before buying. Thanks!

I thought the dual compressor was a total POS too. I could never set the input so give enough gain to trigger properly without it farting and clipping. I found out that the initial batches weren't active / high output friendly and got it modded (admittedly free of charge) by ashdown. It still does exactly the same thing.

I also things the eq knob is pointless, it only sound ok in one position, and not great at that. Far better to put a crossover freq knob in it's place.

Lastly, why make them so freaking huge? If you get the whole set, you need a huge 10+ pedal board for what, 5 fx? Rediculous. It's no wonder the RRP halved in about a year of lauch.

Yep, noise, did not really like mine. Try the TC Electronic "SCF". ZERO noise, very transparent and great on a fretless. Plus you get Flange and Pitch MOD.
