Does the Q switch really affect the sound? I saw a video of James LoMenzo demo'ing it, but it didnt really seem to do much.

Goes half an octave up or a whole octave down, I'd say quite a bit! I tried it a few days ago, but didn't know what exactly it did, so it all came out kind of confusing. Definately what I'm getting the next time I need a new overdrive!

I'm trying to get a 70's tube crunch 'n' grind, will this pedal do it for me?

Now I wouldn't call myself an expert on this pedal, only tried it for 30 minutes in a music store, but I could not dial in a "tube'ish" sound, so to speak. I think this pedal is really good for distortion and overdrive, because it's designed to cut through guitars, but that low-end crunch... I didn't get that sound from it from experimenting back there.
