Auto Resonance Filter

my zoom B2 has been causing me some confusion lately
it has an "auto resonance filter"
what on earth does that mean?
what exactly does it do?

haven't used it, but its probably similar to a normal envelope filter

it could also be like an autowah (keeps wahing all day long no matter what you play) except with the sound on an envelope filter instead of a wah pedal.

i think that they are just using different words, and it is actually a normal envelope filter though

Yes, the "auto resonance filter" is their name for an envelope filter. The "auto wah" is also an envelope filter on the B2. I think the wah is a low pass and the filter is band pass or something like that. The filter holds the low end better, has a longer sweep, can get pretty bubbly and funky. The auto wah sounds a little thinner, can get pretty quacky, and pretty much sounds like a wah. The filter is my favorite effect on the B2.

Thats funny I just bought the exact same pedal a few days ago and was trying to figure out what it meant too.

FWIW "resonance" is where certain frequencies tend to amplify themselves in sort of a feedback loop. It's the same phenomenon that causes "boominess" in certain rooms, or "wolf notes". In filters it can be used to create a very wet, round sound, but the disadvantage is it comes with a spike in amplitude.
