AX3000B tutorial

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey--Is anyone willing to put together a simple step-by-step tutorial on using this multi?
There are absolutely none anywhere. Even Korg told me they did not make one. On YouTube there is only the AX vs POD thing, but that does not really teach you anything.

Being a neanderthal (I can't even use all the buttons on my watch) I find nothing intuitive and I am sure I am not alone in the "please help me get this down" club.
Much as I believe this will be an excellent pedal for me, I can't get over it not having an on/off switch. Hah!
So any expert users-----wherefore art thou?

Thanks----

PS: yes, I have gone thru the manual. A lot of it, however, kinda assumes you know what they are talking about in the first place. Example: if all you wanna do is rotate thru presets to check them out--nothing says how to do it without bending down and manually switching something. And I don't know how many times a bunch of stuff lights up you don't want on, but you don't know why. Even the dot light-ups beside the expression pedal is not explained and you have to try and figure it out. Lots of issues like that which is why I put up this post. Hopefully it'll end up helping everyone else with the same newbie status on multi's but are afraid to admit it. After a military career I know how to PMCS every sort of weapon, crypto/commo gear and most vehicles---yet a multi-effect unit is giving me a headache???? That's enough to p-off anyone!

if you download the manual on the korg website, it has a detailed explanation of each effect and it's various parameters. I used it to program my ax5b, not exactly the same but pretty close.

for what its worth, this is the reason why mine lays dormant and why I hate most multi fx...

all I can suggest is you sit down and go through all of the sounds, change it to a variable that you like and then save it... to edit most of the patches you need to select the button near the rotary switches to turn on or turn off, then use the 5 knobs on the bottom left to set it how you want...

I don't know how people use complex multi fx live without doing sound checks before etc! at least with a stomp box you can easily identify what is wrong and change the knob (ie too much volume or gain etc)

yeah, unfortunately, this is what your going to have to do. Sit down and go through a bunch of stuff and tweak em individually. I just got mine so I'm still in the same boat. The easiest thing for me to do so far was to just reprogram the first 10 patches to just single effects that I figured I might like. Then just tweaked each parameter so I could figure out how each worked and what I liked. These things are a pain in the ass to program but you get alot in a small and inexpensive package. Gonna need a couple hours and a few sessions to figure it out.

As far as the stage goes, I probably wouldn't bring it on stage. I'd maybe bring it but not hook it up, just in case one of my other pedals died.

it should be easy,...
you step on any of the buttons named 1, 2, 3, 4... this will come up with presets,...

once you have finished with these step on the button that says up (or down) and it will take you to the next 'bank' of patches, you then step on the 1, 2, 3, 4 to get to these...

from memory I think it has 3 or 4 banks worth and then repeats, so if you wanted to you could easily change a few of them and yet still have access to the factory patches if you shift a few more banks up...

the one thing that breaks my heart is I LOVE the octafuzz on this... but the complexity and time wasting and fact I couldn't really use it live breaks the deal for me... that said the modulation on this thing is whacko so lots of fun sounds can be had in there...

I guess, I'd just have to say, Read through the AX3000B and the AX5B manuals. Should be able to walk you through operation, since that's how I learned it.

really funny because the octafuzz is what I love too. I almost want it on all the time, I might actually be able to get away with it in my band. I get some kindof crazy pitched tone in the background when I use it though. May it be the compressor? I also have this running right in front of my BBM(which is always on) but when I kick it off, my level jumps way way up.

I think I'll tie tourniquets around my arms, and jigger with it until I get it understood. With a time element like that, I should be very motivated to get my head outta my (insert proper word here).

if you have any high pitched noise or feedback etc easily, remember there is a noise suppressor dial in the back that you can twist to get the noise down,...
