Wow, this has got to be the best $200 I have spent on a pedal since the Moogerfooger lowpass. I guess I am kind of used to the one trick pony pedals that just do one thing really well, but only in a narrow range. This thing is kicking my butt with all the different sounds I can get. I haven't even tried it with my Stingray or my Magnum yet. Can't wait for that!

Trends come and go in the effects forum, and this one seems to have "fallen out of favor", but it's a great fuzz that is going to take its place among the classics in the long run. |

also, it is functional 'in the field' - it cuts through with a full band/live, as well as sounding good at home. |

Also - it sounds to loud! - i can't seem to get something subtle out of it - nor can i get the volume down. When i hit that pedal - everything goes a lot louder then everything else!
I'm still determined to keep mine - and one day get something out of it that i can use.
What are all your settings and the equipment you use with it? Also what genre music do you play?
I bought mine after seeing Jared Warren play one in the Melvins. I saw them a couple of weeks ago - and he doesn't use them anymore (he used to have two!!). My current chain: Fender P Bass => TU2 -> BF-2 -> EHX BBM -> Morley PWB -> Ampeg SVT Classic => Ampeg 810E |

I was trying to modify my pedals to o what this does a littel while ago. I eventually gave up. Playing distorted bass in a 2 guitar metal band is tough. You kick on the fuzz du jour and either you vanish or you are too loud. Either way the low en completely drops.
I play a Musicman Sterling or Ovation Magnum into a Mesa Bass 400 driving EV 15" loaded TL606 style Mesa cabs. For a while now I have been running kind of overdriven, but I want a pedal so I can play cleaner and punch a fuzz in for the, well you know, heavy parts.
I modded one side of a Deucetone (rat) to have lower voicing but it still loses a lot of girth when the pedal comes in.

I need to get a band together just to showcase this pedal. I think my Fuzz War will be relegated to synths now.

| | | | I've been eyeing this pedal for some time now, my only concern is that I don't play super-extreme-distorted doom metal and I'm wondering if it's possible to get something a little more subtle out of the B:assmaster. |

Later, went up against a two guitar metal band. No problem. More awesome.
Do you like being buried in a mix? If so, don't use this pedal. Don't!
If you enjoy being heard in any band, get one GET SEVEN.

I wanted to get another, but I decided it's time for some new flavour Still it's one of my favourite fuzzes for bass (together with Katana Super Bass Fuzz and Viva Analog 360). |

The Germanium is much smoother, has a slightly more prominent upper octave effect to it, and sounds AMAZING with a really hot, active output bass. Double Germs have a higher gain to it, even more prominent upper octave, and get really quirky and "ring moddy" in some settings...although they can be a bit tricky to acquire.
If you're looking for the signature Industrial strength buzzsaw that we all know and love, stick with the Silicon. |

It works so well in my metal band for heavy parts / filling out low end/rhythm parts during solos (especially harmonized guitar solos!!!) | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
