A/B box volume mod?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I use an EHX Switch Blade to switch between my double bass and electric bass on gigs. The one problem is, my DB's pickup's output seems quite a bit higher than my Danelectro's.

For someone with no electronics experience, would it be possible/how easy would it be to mod the Switchblade so one of the channels has a volume knob? Any good resources (websites, etc) for learning how to do such things?

Thanks!

yeah I opened it up earlier and there's practically nothing inside the thing. I can probably handle it. There's only like 4 wires in the thing, it's pretty obvious where the signal is going and which wire to add it to (I think).

another way without modding is to put a booster pedal in either the electric or double basses signal. you could either decrease the volume with the double bass or increase the volume of the electric bass. whatever you want really

For A/B I prefer a Radial Bassbone.
It has 2 inputs with independent volume and EQ, xlr and jack output, effects loop and a boost. I can switch betveen my basses and uprights setting for different tones.
Very useful!

But see, why buy another pedal when adding a volume pot would be so (apparently) easy?

DIY is also more fun!
