A/B/Y Box?

Sign in to disble this ad
Who makes a good A/B/Y box? I'd even try a DIY kit if somebody sells them. I dot trust myself to go out and buy part, but if somebody gave me parts and instructions I'd go to town. I havent worked with electronics before and I figured this would be a good way to start.

I'd like one 1/4 inch input and two 1/4 inch outputs, with LED's by each out to tell me which one is selected.

I'd like to have the footswitches be like this...maybe its overcomplicated or unfeasible...
One footswitch to swap between the outputs. Another footswitch to add whichever channel isnt currently in use and then take it back out again. Follow me?

Thanks

Whirlwind makes a fantastic A/B/A+B, and it sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

ART makes a decent one and it's cheap (something like 39 bucks). It's what I use.

+1 I use the ART ABY pedal, and it works just fine. I think 40 bucks is about right. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is battery only, no DC jack

I'm after a similar pedal, Ideally an AB with a both function, two seperate switches, does DHA make one as I can only find his blending pedal?

The Morley box is also cheap and effective. Lehle is top notch, but pricey.

The Boss AB-2 goes both ways, 1 into 2, or 2 into 1, uses AAA batteries that last forever. Haven't changed mine in over a year, and that's over 200 gigs. I like the Boss because they are designed to be linked together.

I think it cost me $30.

Yes, we do AB/Y boxes, loops and passive blenders.

Except the AB-2 doesn't do Y mode, right?

I've had my Morley ABY for over ten years, still works great.

It functions exactly as you specified in the original post, by the way.

What is Y mode if it's not 1 into 2, or 2 into 1? The only other option is 2 into 2. Would that be X mode?

i think hes saying the boss doesn't have an A or B or A and B function. the morley is the most common switch that does the A and B thing. its got two separate switches and LED's which run on a 9 volt. my only complaint with the morley is that you can't plug it in, it has to run on batteries but i dont imagine running two LED's is going to kill the 9 volt all that fast.

IMHO the whirlwind a/b/y box is the best bet for the money...active switching means silent switching...it is completly transparent...great buy

Double-Pole, Double-Throw (DPDT). Note that there are no LED's to indicate the state of the switch. If you want LEDs, you will need 3PDT switches.

Thanks a bunch sqaurewave! I really appreciate it. I think I can live without the LED's... Just need to keep track of what's what and I should be okay.

I know what I'm doin' tonight...
