Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys. so im running my bass through my board into my amp, but also want to run my korg r3 through my board into my amp. not at the same time, but i want to minimize gear and pedals/boxes. is a A/B/Y morley type switcher what im looking for? ive used one, but it was years ago, so im a little fuzzy. if so, what are the best for the money? cheers

Why would you run keys into a bass amp? I would think that clarity would be the primary concern and so you would just DI to the board or stage PA.

Just curious is all.

Otherwise, I think an a/b/y switcher is exactly what you'd want to use. And IMO, the value is the one you make yourself. High quality switches are not expensive, and boxes are fairly reasonably priced. You could probably build one for half or less what you'd pay for a good one, and it would be the same quality or better.

I was in the market for something similar a few months ago. My goal was to run my bass and my Kaossilator through my board for looping fun. The Morley looked like what I was looking for but I went with the DOD Passive Resistance Mixer due to the independent volume controls.

The synth through your bass rig will be fine, I do it all the time, but I think you'd do better with a buffered AB/Y, such as a Lehle or Radial. The Morley will work, but not optimally- it will cause one side or the other to be less loud. Go for something quality, and buy once/cry once.

Technically, you wouldn't even need a full on A/B/Y pedal, since the "Y' part is utilizing both A and B simultaneously, a feature you've stated you aren't interested in.

Just a simple A/B is all you'll need.

Mixing passively is bad. It becomes really bad whgen you want to mix different impedances, such as your Korg and a bass.
I second the LS-2 idea, it will let you switch or mix at will.
