Bad Monkey be good!

I don't really see the need for an EQ modification to this pedal, the bass/treble controls seem to work wonderfully. The gain knob is really useable up and down the dial, too, without getting hissy or too nazty.

Best $25 bucks I ever spent on my bass rig.

Nah. You're imagining things. If you didn't spend at least $200 on it, it can't be any good...

Agree. The Bad Monkey is awesome, it's very dark.

I used to use it a lot, but cut back when my tone got a bit more trebely.

Still it's great for the deep stuff.

I use my SansAmp(s) to get my overdrive/distortion fix these days, but I do agree - the Bad Monkey is one of the rare overdrive pedals that actually retains most of the low end of a bass. I'm not saying it's perfect & there's nothing better, but I've not felt a burning desire yet to get into one of those "mods" for it, and I still keep it around for an occasionally different overdrive flavor. It's a sweet little pedal.

Congrats!

Whoa, my Bad Monkey has loads of treble if I boost it just a little bit, so this sounds quite strange. They are great little boxes, but I've heard that they break quite easily. Mine turned into a weird fuzz box for a while (and the power led dimmed), until it started behaving normally after few minutes. Go figure.

I've got one of those too... Love it when I play with a pick.

As a guitar pedal it stinks tho'. Kinda weird.

If it keeps doing that, check for a loose solder.

I've owned the Bad Monkey like 4 times over the years, the first three times were as a guitarist. It's actually very good for guitar, and many guitarists love it, but it's best with the gain down and the level up with guitar.

I used to use one to drive the crap out of my Big Muff but while it was fun at home, it wasn't the sort of thing I could get away with in the band.

Now I've got a gated fuzz I could probably try again though...
