I'll show you exactly the sound I at least think I want: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...Cei2Zvo#t=100s
I don't want spitty, hissy, 'bit mangling' type synthy fuzz sound. It needs to be fat, thick, and huge. But fuzzy!
So the obvious choice would be a Tall Font Russian? I'd like to hear about others though. I'm kinda worried that might sound too close to my Darkglass B3k is the only thing.
In the past I've tried an EH Big Bass Fuzz, Manx Loghtan, and Swollen Pickle and none of them gave me what I'm looking for.
I currently have a DMB Bumble which has been the best so far, but I really think it's more of a distortion/od pedal that can sound fuzzy. I also have an MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe on the way to try.
Along with the Tall Font, I'm feeling good about these:
W&C Tri Pie
W&C Pickle Pie B (although it seems to be a Swollen Pickle clone but with clean blend)
TAFM (if I can get it in small enclosure with side jacks)
Earthquaker Hoof
Blackout Blunderbuss
Blackout Musket (seems the mid control would be handy on these)
Like I said before, I have a Darkglass B3K overdrive and I'd like to get a Fuzz on that same level, but does not sound similar.
I feel bad about doing it, but what I'll probably do is buy 2-3 of these from Prymaxe and send the others back. I know they have no problem doing that, but I still feel bad about sending stuff back

a simple straight up the middle no bs fuzz is the Boss HM-2, hard to believe but this pedal is straight up amazing on bass. it can be subtle or brutal, you can dial in more bottom end than you'll ever need and it has lots of mids on tap.

I owned a Musket before, and it was also a good choice.
My personal fuzz favourite is the Tall Font...it's just so creamy and bassey. Love it.

I also have a TAFM. Its great. I've not made good enough friends with it yet to be able to say it if can get the same doomy huge muff sound as the TFR can, but its a fuzz pedal that you won't go wrong with picking up.
There is an MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe for sale in the classifieds right now for a great price, that would also be a very reasonable place to start.
How about go over to bassfuzz.com and listen to some more clips? It might help you narrow down your list a little. |

Sublime. TAFM. Tall font. Pick a flavor. Buy used so if you have to sell a few, you only end up eating shipping. +1 to bassfuzz. Dude welcome to fuzz. You are going to be pedal hungry soon. Just don't fall down the delay hole. You'll end up with moog everything
I like an od with a fuzz. I am running an OCD clone with a Heavy Electronics El Oso. It is all kinds of awesome. But I am going for a more 70'S overdrive sound with a nice fuzz on top. I also recommend 15" speakers. (Or an 8-10")
