Barber 1/2 Gainer

Introducing the new Barber Half Gainer

The Barber Half Gainer is the long awaited dual version of our very popular LTD ultra clear low gain overdrive. The Half Gainer adds new features for enhanced live performance. There is a new "mid character" control that simultaneously adjusts the midrange content and shifts the EQ curve to compliment the amount of midrange added or cut! We worked with pedal artist Bronson Wagner to achieve a very upscale graphic and paint presentation. Bronson tastefully applied Art Deco styling on a rich silver vein powder coat, for beauty with significant durability. The sounds that emanate from our new overdrive instrument range from subtle purrs, to an authoritative sweet grind. The Midrange Character control allows you to set the tone control to a nearly flat EQ balance for BIG chords that match your clean tone magnificently, or dial in a sophisticated fatness to thicken your single note lines to perfection.

The Half Gainer has control features that include; two channels with fully independent adjustments of output volume and gain for each channel. This is a tremendous step up from simply boosting schemes often implemented by other pedal companies. There are a shared Tone and Midrange Character adjustments on top the Half Gainer to keep things simple for quick live settings. The Half Gainer also has internal trim pots made by CTS to facilitate bass and presence balancing. The Half Gainer achieves these two independent channels in an enclosure that is only 3.7" wide to save greatly on pedalboard space.

We are offering the Barber Half Gainer at a very affordable introductory price that respects the changes in our economy, and the need to maintain musician friendly pricing.

Price: $169.95

I'd be interested to know which LTD it sounds like or if it can sorta move between the 3 of them, but defo an interesting pedal.

Looks good. The Barber B-Custom Cool is also meant to sound great on bass by nobody around here has one AFAIK. To satisfy my overdrive fetish I may just have to get both!

I have the LTD Silver and there isn't much of a mid hump at all.

That's the one designed not to have a mid hump, but it's a bit grainier than the original. I still haven't tried the SR but I hear it is the best of both so if this is 2 SR's in it, that would be killer

Internal trim pots- There are two internal user adjustable trim pots inside the ½ Gainer, the white one
marked “P” is for presence; its stock position is 1 o’clock. The orange trim pot marked “B” is for bass, its
stock position is also 1 o’clock. Feel free to adjust the trim pots to best match your amp/guitar.

That's encouraging.

So...

Both halves share a tone knob and they run in series?

I was wondering about this. I think it may be either/or rather than cascading gain stages. Can anyone clarify?

Pretty sure I saw somewhere that the channels are either/or, not series.

been wondering if i could get a custom one but a SR in the 1/2 gainer format.
got a reply from barber electronics today

"The 1/2 gainer doesn't need a SR circuit.. It does both LTD and SR sounds. The Mid control is designed to go between the 2 sounds or blend a little of both."

looks like im getting one for my big board. i think i shouldnt worry bout a cream pie any longer. this does more at the same price of one being offered to me! but maybe i should get both anyway
