Barge Concepts , what has the turnaround been for you?

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a VB-Jr about 50-60 days ago.

I still havent got it, I tried sending an email, and only got one response back on my first initial query about 25 days ago, where he told me turnaround was around 15-20 days, which I was willing to wait, but it is getting ridiculous.

I need this blender more than anything and I am having to wait entirely way too long.

This is not an attack on Barge, I know they make great stuff, and typically I am sure they are good about getting pedals out.

Just curious!

I've noticed that they haven't been too good lately with updating their website. They are usually very good about doing this on a weekly basis.

I see the last time they updated it was about three weeks ago, and it still refers to orders placed before June 29, 2009. Before this update they went about a month or so without updating.

In the past, there have been some family issues that resulted in a slow down. At least I think this is what the website stated. Maybe something serious happened.

well, all things considered, I am not furiously mad, but I am a little upset seeing as I passed up a vb2, a x-blender all cheaper than a newer version that I got, and I am still waiting.

I at least deserve a email saying it is going to be X amount of days before your order ships.

I ordered a custom blender from them and delivery went over by about a month or so, I emailed 'em for about a week with no replies. Then they finally answered and I got my pedal. No worries with them though, I've got three BC pedals and while some have taken a bit to arrive, they're always top notch and well worth the wait.

When I ordered a custom version VB-2, which became the precursor to the DVB-2 (mine was a 2-loop version), it took about three months.

When I ordered a Grinder, I got it within a week. (it was in stock)

Really it depends on what they have in stock, and whether or not there is a lengthy backlog for it and/or other pedals. It's not so bad though... I waited almost 5 months for a simple mini A/B/Y from Loop-Master.

I've noticed that a few custom builders have been a little longer than anticipated. Part supply problems maybe?

I'd assume that it's because they are keeping less in stock that they would in a better economy since it costs more money to store everything. As such, they are probably only stocking the minimums from their suppliers to be able to turn out pedals while keeping the overhead of a vast amount of overstock down.

I know that the small time builders are very busy, but communication goes a long way in maintaining a positive business relationship.

:edit: I should add that when I got my Barge VFB-2 (2+ years ago) I waited less than a month for my pedal and Geoff was very forthcoming with updates. Also, I was considering a custom utility pedal earlier this year, and again Geoff was very helpful (even though the build didn't work out) with all my ideas/questions.

Wow.
They were really quick when I got my VB-Jr, and that only a few months ago.
From memory it took around 3 weeks to get to me with international postage. Considering thats 2 weeks post time, I pretty impressed.
