John not only assembled the thing, but also designed and made the PCB (and probably painted it to match the colour of the box  ), painted the box and made face place, then amp led and battery compartment, etc. I guess that in smaller and simpler box it might be cheaper...
BTW, I think that bass and treble controls are brilliant idea.

I'm not spending another $300 on a single pedal again, the BJFE BBBOD made a nice dent in my wallet though it was worth it.
