Hi all,

Those of you that have tried both the MXR BAss Auto Q and the Tweaktronix Dynamic filter, how do they differ in sound?

Thanks

The auto q has a lot more options and can get out of control while the Dynamic filter is just straight up filter goodness with no extras.
I liked them both but seemed to use the auto q more. I currently only own a Musictronics Mu-tron III, but I did own both at one time.
If I remember right I play through them both in this vid

thanks man!!! that helps a lot. It seems that the Dynamic filter is a litter tamer, and the Q is a little funkier... At least to my ears lol. I am having some issue getting the sound i want out if the Filter, it sound great, just not quite what i am trying to get out of it.

Which filter are you using?
I've found some filters to have a "sweet spot" that is hard to find even when there's only two knobs. The strength of signal and playing technique have a lot to do with the end result. Some filters respond better if there is some signal gain before them in the chain. Hot active bass or a clean boost before the filter are a couple of ways to check if that's what you're missing.

I have the Dynamic Filter. I run one of three basses in it, all have moderate to hot outputs. It is the first pedal in my chain, before compression, eq, or distortion.

You might try putting the distortion before the filter to see if helps push the filter a little bit. I also like my compressor at the end of my my signal chain. Of course this is just my preference and everybody has their own idea of what they like the most.
