Bass Balls and Double Muff

I've searched around and found no place to try these two pedals, and i wanted to know some things about them...

I've seen some videos of the bass balls on youtube, and i got the idea that is a pedal mostly for funk. Is it true? I wanted to try this pedal with distortion to see if it could go to wild distortion wah type sound.

And what's the difference from the double muff to the american or english big muffs?

Do these two pedals go well together on bass?

I actually have the BassBalls effects pedal. I think it is very helpful. I actually has a little distortion switch, which pretty much does little, but I actually like it for a little bit of dirt, but not much.
I have not tried the Muff, but I think it is probably good, I like all of EHX's stuff.

I've owned both. The Bassballs is a special pedal. What you could potentially use it for is up to you, but don't expect to easily find spots for it in songs that already exist; it's more of an effect that you write riffs around. It does sound interesting with distortion but it is a very over the top sound. Listen to all the sound samples in this thread:

The Double Muff is not very impressive on bass at all from what I remember. I promptly sold it to a guitar player, and I wasn't too impressed with it on guitar either. I would not recommend buying one, but hey, they're cheap, it's your money.

most guitar centers have an electro harmonix set up with a bassablls and if you ask theyll usually set one up if they dont have one out. as stated the bassballs has a weak distortion switch, but if you combine the bassballs with distortion and a nice fuzz pedal you can get some wild sounds, and it will also be really loud.

i like my double muff a lot. It sucks a lot of your low out of your bass-sound so i combined it with my BOSS LS-2 lineselector to mix it with a clean blend and it's frickin' awesome!

I occasionally use my Russian Bassballs with my Fulltone Bass Drive, which when combined produce a pretty wicked sound. Mostly I've found I prefer my Bassballs with other pedals, as I can't often find a great place I want to use it alone; not that it sounds bad alone. It sounds good with my Micro POG as well.

I vouch for the Bassballs. If you can find a use for it, it is so wicked.

I have a love/hate relationship with my bassballs. I hate the gain boost I get from it, and the way the sensitivity knob becomes a volume knob when you turn the distortion switch on.

On the other hand: I think it sounds pretty cool either with the distortion switch on or off, and it's nice to feed other effects into. The thing sounds gnarly as all hell anyway, so why not stir it up a bit more.

Very rough n' ready sounding. Typical EHX box, really.

The Double Muff was "ok" on bass. I liked it on guitar more... but it added this light fuzzy layer on your bass that was "ok"
