Bass Big Muff + B:assmaster = Redundant?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have a Big Bass Muff which is a great pedal. I was blown away by a B:assmaster recently and now have one on the way.

Is having both pedals going to be redundant or do they stand on their own and do different things? Will one compliment the other?

I read the blind shootout between both pedals and came away from that thread wondering if I'll even need the BBM any more. I was planning on keeping it but the B:assmaster may do what it does plus more.

Thoughts?

Not that similar sounding and there is no reason not to have both if you like both. Whether it is redundant or not comes down to your personal fuzz usage.

They sounds really disimilar to me. I'm sure its possible to dial the B:assmaster into get more subdued BBM tones. But that would kindof defeat the purpose, it's known for its ripping obnoxious fuzz, so why fight it?

I own the BBM and plan on getting the silicon B:Assmaster when I get the chance- they certainly sound different enough from what I've heard.

I have both on my board and I have them set for two different functions. The BBM does that nice smooth fuzz, and the assmaster does that beautiful analog distortion. Both are great!!

Thanks for the info. It looks like I'll have a lot of quality sounds to choose from if I keep both. I'm going to keep the BBM for sure.

If it means anything to you, JMJ has both on his board, and six other gain stages not counting whatever presets are on his M13.
