Question Bass Big Muff or Bass Blogger?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am trying to decide which to buy EHX Bass big muff, or the Bass blogger. What I am looking for is a nice smooth fuzz, which I know that The Big muff will do although the bass blogger seems more flexible with the overdrive switch option. What are you guys thoughts?

i have a BBM and it's awesome.. the Dry mode is killer. all the fuzz modes sound really nice but the dry mode is in a league of its own IMO.

the only thing is, it's not all that versatile. but i mean, for my purposes, it's totally fine. i've never tried the blogger but i'm very happy with my bass big muff.

I'd say what pretty much everyone else says.

BBM is great for flexibility especially with dry. You can get many different fuzzes out of the one box. On the other hand, like multi effects, it's good at many things but great at few. I feel the BBM is like an intro to fuzzes and will let you discover exactly what you like and then you can go out and get something else that does exactly that sound the best. I say this cuz I have a BBM right now and I'm getting towards the tail end of my discovery time.

You say you're looking for a smooth fuzz, Bass Blogger is about as smooth as they come. However, the Bass Big Muff will do smooth, not quite as smooth, and complety brutal. So it's really a matter of taste, have you tried either one yet?

I had a Blogger a grand total for a day before selling it to buy a Muff clone. I say get one or two pedals that do their one thing incredibly well than settle for one pedal that does an okay job at 2 things.

I used to have one of the old Russian Big Muff pedals and it sounded pretty good, with the exception of the typical bass loss with guitar pedals. All around It had a good sound. I let a fellow bass player borrow it for a gig and I never got it back. So I am trying to replace and upgrade at the same time. I tryed out my guitar players BBE free fuzz which totally sucked the wind out of my volume and tone.
