Question Is Bass Big Muff the same type sound as Boss ODB-3?

I'm new to using effects, and was trying to decide which pedal to purchase. These two both sounded great to me, and very similar. Are they the same type of pedal. I turned to you guys for some INPUT?

Nope. Quite different, once you get more accustomed to the different pedal sounds out there. They do both distort the signal, but in different ways.

I've seen where some (Jared Lash in re: that one RHCP song that I'm failing to remember the name of) have felt that the ODB-3 approaches fuzz territory,...but yeah,...different beasts.

The ODB-3 sounds fizzy (think a television that's not tuned in and just picking up static!) whereas a Muff (there are lots of variants that all sound a bit different) sounds a bit more throaty.

This video includes some sound clips of a Black Russian Muff and the ODB-3:

Hard to say. People like different things.

If I were you, I'd get the Bass Big Muff. A LOT of people will agree with me.

It's entirely subjective, but if you need a push, I'd say go with a Bass Big Muff. It's cheaper and generally gets better reviews than the ODB-3.

I'd go fuzz as well.

You can usually pick up an ODB-3 used very cheap. There's a reason.

Just sold my ODB-3 in favor of a CrossDrive. I think the CrossDrive definitely sounds muff-ish (having previously owned a black Sovtek muff).

I had a hard time as of lately getting anything to sound good on the ODB-3, and not having tried the BBM, but hearing plenty of clips, I'd go with the BBM.
