I am looking for a delay. I not sure whether to get a analog ehx or a digital boss or digitech delay. If you have a suggestion please tell me.

also if you know if a ehx small stone is good for bass please tell me.

I owned a Small Stone, does great on bass

As for delay, personally I'd go analog (warmer signal, more natural, organic decay) but you'll just have to compare the two, digital does things that analog can't (longer delay times, ect.) Its all a matter of taste and what you want in a delay pedal.

I use a Line 6 ToneCore Echo Park and it works awesome on bass. It's probably the most versatile delay with it's footprint too.

I wouldn't go analog for bass. We have a hard enough time with effects mudding up our tone. I personal use a BOSS DD-3 and love it

Boss makes great delays. I have a dd-3, and theres so much more you can do with it then just standard repeats. It's not expensive (only like 100 dollars), plus it's built incredibly well and has organized controls. If you want to get something a little more advanced, I'd go dd-7, it's like the same but has more settings and stuff. Great pedals none the less.

I just got a Malekko Ekko 616 analog delay. I love it! All that crap about analog delays sounding muddy is simply not true.

I too have a DD-3 and am a big fan. I can get some good stuff going on with it.

i also use this one and agree. many good sounding delays in a small package, but weighs a small ton.

im really struggling with the idea of using a delay on bass. i can think of very few practical uses. ive put it on an indie song on a recording, and i heard it once in a muse song. otherwise, i cant think of where id use it, and i play just about everything.

someone PLEASE fill me in here.

I second this! Tons of features, digital but with analog and tape emulation, tap tempo, and good quality sound in a relatively small and cheap package. Highly recommended!

Hmm...
I sometimes think the same thing, I have a DD-3 too and love a good clear digital delay.
OTOH, I switch back to an EHX Deluxe Memory Man from time to time. That is an analog delay that works very well with bass. It doesn't muddy the tone and it doesn't distort IME.
Try that one out if you have the chance.

I prefer delay on bass as an alternative to reverb, because in my opinion and experience reverb muddies up the bass or makes it a bit lost in the mix.
This is just me, many bassists use reverb succesfully.

I had very good experiences with a Line 6 Verbzilla and the reverb on the BOSS FDR-1 and RV series pedals, but I never came across a usable (for me) reverb sound.
Delay is where it's at for me.

Well, it's analog-modelling.

I've been tempted too pick one of these things up, but I don't really need it.

How much do you want to spend? Do you need presets? Do you care whether it's analog or digital?

Those are both digital, so maybe "analog-style" would be a better descriptor.

I have the Boss DD-7, it has an analog setting which I use over the digital settings :P It also has the cool features of reversed and modulated delays!

Also, the EHX small stone is great on bass - no low end loss! Though personally it wasnt for my tastes, I replaced it with an MXR phase 100 which I LOVE! The MXR just gave my that extra swoosh and warble that the EHX didnt have. Think along the lines of Mars Volta, Juan Alderete uses one

Tap tempo is good to have for bass, for obvious reasons.

If I didn't have loads of delays on my M9, I would get an EHX Deluxe Memory Boy.

Justin from Tool and Jeff from Isis use a lot of delay on bass, so that would be a good place to start listening for ideas. Also, "No Shelter" from RATM, "One of these days" from the Floyd, etc.
