Bass distortion similar to a Cow Mooing

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I would like to get a good low sound bass growl from a distortion pedal and have done a bit of research on the forums and elsewhere and identified the ODB-3 Boss pedal (having dry/wet to keep the low end and an eq). I have a WMD 5 string B.C.Rich Widow bass guitar (http://www.bcrich.com/bass_widow.asp).

The sound I want is something like the sound manson uses in his latest album that stands up on its own but mixes in well and doesn't just sound like a regular guitar. Here is a link to the song in question (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIKgiq6Xvrs) - horrible youtube quality I know.

My question is, is the ODB-3 suitable or would there be a better pedal for this task? I'd like to get as close a sound to what I want before going into an amp as I'm likely to be playing with stage equipment rather than carting an amp around.

Any recommendations are fine regardless of cost but if possible I'd be aiming at around £100 ($164 or €116).

In other news, I think the Tech 21 XXL B will suit you nicely.

If I find out you get an endorsement from them, you are going to be in a world of hurt
